I'm Mike Russell, the President and co-owner of DreamBuilders along with my wife Kathe. I started this business in 2000 with Kathe coming on board full time shortly thereafter. I am a licensed general contractor and certified remodeler. I've been in the construction industry for almost thirty years now and I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing.
I am a Vietnam veteran serving my country from 1970-1980 with my last five years stationed at Andrews AFB, Maryland, where I had the privilege of being a part of the team that kept Air Force One in the air. I absolutely love what I do now in that we make great spaces for people. People say that I am the most anal person they know which I always take as a compliment. Some are surprised to learn that one of the things that I love to do is cooking. My other great love (besides my wife) is music. I've played the drums since I was ten and the guitar since my senior year in high school. I love the outdoors and take every opportunity to go fishing. It is the best mind clearer I know.
Hi, I'm Kathe Russell, the General Manager and Chief Designer of DreamBuilders. What I love most about my work at DreamBuilders is meeting our clients and helping them make changes in their homes that transform the quality of their lives.
Before I joined my husband Mike in our business, I spent 15 years as a clinical social worker and ran a non-profit health organization. I have a B.A. Degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master's Degree from CSU, Sacramento. I entered the field of construction and interior design as a second career and became certified as a kitchen and bath remodeler and certified aging in place specialist. I served on the board of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, California Capital Chapter for four years and I'm an active member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills.
People often ask me if it was difficult to transition from being a social worker to a designer. What I tell them is that it was actually quite easy. Although the technical knowledge base is, of course, different- the skill set is the same. Both entail listening to our client's needs and helping them find the right solutions.
I love my job here at DreamBuilders, Customer Relations Coordinator, because I am a "people person"! I try to always think of my glass as half full and like to have on my rose colored glasses!
I have been married to Rick, a local fire captain, for 21 ½ years and we have three awesome kids! We have lived in El Dorado Hill since 1994 and love being in the foothills of the Sierras. I love to travel, kayak and spend time with my family. My "happy place" is the beach and I love Mexican food!
Through the years I have been a bank teller, managed a chiropractic office, and learned a bit of the tax world. By far my job here at DreamBuilders definitely ranks #1 in my book and has been the most interesting and fun!
When I was little, I used to have my mom take me to bathrooms at restaurants, not because I had to go, I just wanted to look around. I was a designer in the making, even at a young age. Artistic design is certainly in my blood; my grandfather was an artist, mostly watercolor paintings.
Being the lead designer here, I love what I do, I get to be creative everyday. As an out of the box thinker, I strive to create something new and different in every design I do. I have also put a lot of education into my career. I am certified as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer with the National Kitchen and Bath Association and a Certified Aginig in Place Specialist. I also have an AA in Interior Design and a Certificate in Kitchen and Bath Design from American River College. I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Humboldt State University.
On a more personal note, my loving husband of 2 years, Paule, is a Fire Captain in the San Francisco Bay Area. My cat, Pejou, of 9 years, is fluffy, gray, and is named after a winery in Napa, Peju. Both make me happy, and keep me warm in the winter!
Hello, I'm Paul Holmquist, the field Superintendent for DreamBuilders and the guy you see everyday when we're doing your project. I coordinate the scheduling, oversee our work crews, and make sure that everything is going smoothly in your home. My favorite part about my job here at DreamBuilders is keeping our clients smiling.
Before joining the DreamBuilders team, I had 10 years of experience as a superintendent building custom homes in Granite Bay and the surrounding community. I am married to my lovely wife Silvia and we have a 21 year old daughter who is a talented hairstylist/makeup artist. I am U.S Army veteran, grew up in Sacramento and currently reside in Roseville.
